About us

A few members of The Chinese University of Hong Kong started KongPaper in 2023. It began as a test of our own low-cost, distributed AI deployment and inference framework: how much load it could take, and how well it recovered from failures. It then grew into a product of its own, built on the language and speech recognition models we have worked on for years.

The team has won several start-up awards in and beyond the Greater Bay Area, including from Hong Kong Science Park.

KongPaper is operated by ThinkThinkSyn Limited (先循有限公司), which AI and computer science undergraduate and graduate students at CUHK founded. ThinkThinkSyn builds highly customised AI applications and cost-effective on-premises server solutions. Its clients include large organisations such as the Water Supplies Department and Towngas. Graduate students from other universities, including the University of Science and Technology of China, also work on KongPaper.
